PANBAKE

About PanBake.com

PanBake.com is a small, independent baking site built around one idea: give home bakers straight answers to the numbers that come up mid-recipe. Six free tools handle the calculations — scaling a recipe, converting an oven temperature, converting a measurement, estimating a bake time, costing a batch, or finding a substitution — while the site’s articles and guides cover the technique behind them. Nothing here replaces a good cookbook, a kitchen scale, or your own judgment about what’s actually happening in your oven.

What This Site Covers

PanBake.com sticks to home baking: bread and cake recipes, cookie and pastry technique, oven and measurement conversions, ingredient substitutions, and the everyday arithmetic of scaling a recipe or pricing out a batch. The six tools listed below do the calculating; the blog and learn section cover technique, ingredients, and background reading.

What It Isn’t

This is not a food-safety authority, a nutrition or allergen database, or a substitute for the instructions in your actual recipe. Every tool produces an estimate — a scaled ingredient list, a converted temperature, a typical bake-time range, an approximate per-serving cost, a substitution ratio — based on standard baking conventions and whatever numbers you enter, not a lab measurement of your specific oven, altitude, or ingredients. Estimates can be off, particularly for finicky bakes like laminated dough, custards, or anything with a tight allergen or food-safety requirement. For those, check a qualified source rather than a calculator on this site.

Independent and Ad-Supported

PanBake.com isn’t affiliated with any oven manufacturer, ingredient brand, publisher, or the baking conventions it references (gas-mark tables, cup-to-gram equivalents, and similar standards). The site runs on advertising, which is why ads sit alongside the tools and articles. Nothing here requires an account or sign-up, and no personal baking data is collected to use any tool on the site.

The Tools

The Baking & Pastry Museum

The Baking & Pastry Museumis a separate, more historical side of the site — galleries on breads, cakes, pastries, techniques, and the tools of a baker’s kit. Its entries, images, and facts are drawn from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons rather than written from scratch, and it’s kept out of search results so it doesn’t compete with the tool pages for attention.
